Amazon Management Console supported on more devices

AWS Management Console now supports tablet devices and adds an app for Android mobile phones.

Amazon WorkMail supports access to email, contacts, and calendars using Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, a web browser, or native iOS and Android email applications via a secure, managed business email and calendar service.

SAP Workloads certified for EC2 R5B Instances

R5B instances are optimized for Amazon EBS with 60Gbps bandwidth and 260K IOPS (Input/Output operations per second) and are now certified for running SAP Workloads such as Netweaver and HANA.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)

Provides infrastructure layer compute capabilities, including both bare metal and virtual servers with various optimizations includins compute, memory, IO, and disk. Also supports accelerations options such as GPUs, FPGAs, Inferentia and Trainium.

Amazon Elastic Block Storage (EBS)

Block storage designed to work with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances.


AWS Certificate Manager(ACM) gains FedRAMP Compliance

AWS Certificate Manager(ACM), including Private Certificate Authority(CA) is now FedRAMP Compliant. GovCloud regions are certified FedRAMP High, while others are certified FedRAMP Moderate.

Voicemail Queues for Amazon Connect available from AWS Solutions Consulting

CloudHesive, an Amazon Connect Service Delivery Partner, can deliver voicemail queues for Amazon Connect as part of a AWS Solutions Consulting Offer.

It uses underlying services AWS services such as Amazon Kinesis, Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS), and Amazon QuickSight.

A serverless, fully-managed, message queue service that supports producing, store, and consuming messages and enables loose coupling between applications.

Amazon OpenSearch Service now runs OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards version 1.1

In this first upgrade since the announcement on September 8th 2021, the new version of the service provides several new capabilities, including:

  • Cross-Cluster Replication (CCR) for improved fault-tolerance
  • Machine learning based anomaly detection for historical data
  • alerting policies that evaluate against aggregations grouped by a unique field value

AWS Resource Groups and Tag Editor launched in the Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region

AWS typically launches new capabilities in a small number of regions initially, and over time rolls that new capability out to other regions.

The Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region now supports the AWS Resource Groups service, including the Tag Editor.

AWS Glue now detects and remediates PII

AWS Glue is now able to detect Personal Identifiable Information (PII) at both the column and cell level. It can log the type of PII and it’s location, and follow-on actions can be defined.

Tool validates EMR on EKS custom docker images

Custom docker images can be used by EMR on EKS to include specific packages required for Apache Spark jobs that are not available in the default distribution of EMR. This new tool validates these images.

Amazon SageMaker JumpStart adds three new model families designed to work with tabular data and both classification and regression tasks:

  • LightGBM

AWS Glue adds new capabilities

AWS Glue supports two new capabilities designed to simplify the process of developing data integration jobs:

  • Interactive Sessions allow data engineers to explore and prepare data interactively
  • Job Notebooks let customers save and schedule their notebook code as AWS Glue jobs and work with Interactive Sessions

Amazon Managed BlockChain (AMB) upgrades HyperLedger Fabric

Amazon Managed BlockChain (AMB) now supports the latest long-term support release of HyperLedger Fabric v2.2, which:

  • improves collaboration by introducing decentralized governance for chaincode (or smart contracts)
  • better supports the sharing of private data
  • improves the packaging and installation process for chaincode

Updated Kubernetes plugin released for AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) Private Certificate Authority (CA)

Kubernetes can be extended to interact with its environment using plugins. AWS have now released a v1.0 plugin which allow Kubernete to use the more secure AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) Private Certificate Authority (CA) instead of it’s own internal CA.

New AWS Storage Gateway Tape Gateway vendor products supported

Now Dell EMC NetWorker 19.5 and Veeam Backup & Replication 11A running on Microsoft Windows Server 2019 can backup to AWS Storage Gateway allowing users to replace physical tapes on premises with virtual tapes in AWS without changing backup workflows.
